Google has confirmed that Pixel 11 pre-orders open on August 12, 2026. With only one week between today and the announcement, most people with a working phone should wait before paying full flagship money.
That does not automatically make the Pixel 10 a bad purchase. A large, verifiable discount can outweigh an unknown generational upgrade—especially when the current phone already includes seven years of updates, magnetic Qi2 charging, a telephoto camera and Google’s established AI features.
The useful question is not simply “new or old?” It is:
Is the guaranteed saving on Pixel 10 worth more than the information and launch offers that become available on August 12?

Google has not yet published the complete Pixel 11 comparison table, final UK price list, trade-in values or the exact conditions of the sign-up offer.
Reporting based on Google’s event invitation says the presentation starts at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, which is 11:00 p.m. BST on August 12. The practical buying comparison may therefore become clearer late that evening or the following morning in the UK.
What a discounted Pixel 10 already guarantees
Waiting has value, but the existing phone is a known product rather than obsolete inventory.
Pixel 10
Google’s current specification pages list:
- a 6.3-inch 60–120 Hz OLED display;
- 12 GB of RAM and the Tensor G5 chip;
- a triple rear-camera system including a 5x telephoto camera;
- Pixelsnap magnetic Qi2 wireless charging;
- more than 24 hours of stated battery life under Google’s testing conditions;
- seven years of operating-system, security and Pixel Drop updates from its original US Google Store availability.
The regular Pixel 10 is therefore already a complete flagship rather than a deliberately limited model. At around £549, the decision is less about whether Pixel 11 will be better—it almost certainly should be in some respects—and more about whether those improvements will be worth the price difference.
Pixel 10 Pro
The Pro model adds the more advanced camera system, 16 GB of RAM, a brighter LTPO display and higher storage options. Google’s current UK pages displayed it from £899 when checked.
The Pro is harder to recommend immediately before a launch because premium buyers are paying specifically for the areas that tend to change between generations: cameras, display, battery, modem, processor and on-device AI capability. Waiting one week provides much more information per pound than it does for a heavily discounted base model.

Google says Pixel 8 and later phones receive seven years of operating-system and security updates from the date each device first became available on the US Google Store. Pixel 10 therefore still has most of its support period remaining.
Pixel 11 should begin its seven-year window approximately one year later, assuming Google continues the same policy for the new series. That extra year matters most when the phone will be kept until support ends or passed to another person.
It matters less when the device is normally replaced after two or three years. In that case, purchase price, battery condition and resale value are likely to dominate the extra support year.
What not to decide from yet
Before the announcement, avoid treating these as established facts unless Google publishes them:
- final Pixel 11 prices;
- exact storage tiers;
- processor performance or efficiency gains;
- modem supplier and reception quality;
- camera sensor changes;

- feature availability by country;

Before purchasing either generation, record:
